Jackson County Cascades Park 2018 Cascades Park has a pond adjacent to its very popular facility that hosts weddings, luncheons, meetings, and many other activities. The shoreline along the pond was in bad condition and needed soil erosion mitigation. We first did some light excavating to fill in and level out some areas. Almost 500’ of 12” dia coir logs were installed at the toe of the shoreline. We used a 3 tier planting scheme to achieve some immediate improvement in appearance. Light amount of top soil was spread out and then cover crop species, annual wildflower mixture, and native plant seeds were sowed. Then erosion control blankets were spread out to prevent washout of the seed. On top of that a number of native plant species plugs were planted to give a jump start for the native flowers.
